If you liked Archie and his gang, wait till you read the next installment of Helmut Werb’s infamous „Road to Insanity“-cycle:

 Alice & the Aliens

When in 1981 during a Open-Air Festival in the Californian Desert a spaceship sort of crash-landed 120 yards behind the stage, the crowd just loved it for its awesome special stage-effects (for not-so-sophisticated 70s-standards anyhow). Nobody took any further notice of the aliens despite the fact that neither of them had any backstage passes. When the Open-Air was finished, the roadies – not realizing that the spaceship was initially there to pick up Jerry Garcia – took the whole thing apart thinking it belonged to the stage set. Not being familiar with the individual pieces, the roadies took half of it on the road with them and left the other half inadvertently to rot away in the desert as it didn’t fit into their trucks. The aliens, bereft of their ship and, alas! of Jerry Garcia as well, decided to settle on Earth, at least for the time being. Oh, they had tried to get in contact with their homeplanet in the Horsehead Nebula, and had to that behalf even fixed the Hubble Telescope. But when they finally got through, the provider on their homeplanet had changed and the aliens, not being able to open a new account from Earth with the new provider, were left stranded. They decided to move to Berkeley where absolutely nobody seemed to notice anything special. The aliens started a thriving software company, and produced some extremely cool ice cream as a sideline.

Everything was fine until one day in the year 2003, Alice drove into town in a brandnew Jaguar XK Convertible. She was on the rebound from an unhappy relationship with an older male in Las Vegas, Nev., who had rode away on a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

And she really, really liked ice cream.
